Pilgrimage Travel Insurance | Tekton Ministries

Pilgrimage Travel Insurance

Prepare well, so nothing stands between you and the graces God has waiting.

A pilgrimage asks you to leave the familiar behind and open yourself to encounter. Travel insurance is part of that preparation—it frees your heart and mind from worry about the unexpected, so you can be fully present to the sacred moments ahead.

Why Do I Need Travel Insurance?

Travel insurance protects against the unexpected—the things no amount of careful planning can prevent. Here are real scenarios our pilgrims have faced:

Weather forces a flight delay, causing you to miss the first day of your pilgrimage.

Insurance can reimburse you for this travel delay.

You fall while walking on uneven pavement at a sacred site, breaking a wrist.

Insurance can cover your overseas medical expenses.

The airline loses your luggage, and you’re without your belongings for three days.

Insurance can reimburse you for lost or delayed baggage.

A loved one grows seriously ill before departure, and you decide to stay home to care for them.

Insurance can refund the cost of your pilgrimage.

Frequently Asked Questions

While travel insurance is not required, it is strongly recommended for international pilgrimages. It protects your financial investment against unexpected cancellations, medical emergencies abroad, lost baggage, and travel delays. More importantly, it lets you set aside practical worries and focus on the spiritual purpose of your journey—being present to the sacred encounters ahead.

You can purchase coverage any time after your pilgrimage registration is processed. However, to qualify for pre-existing medical condition coverage on the Premium plan, you must purchase within 24 hours of your final trip payment. We encourage purchasing as soon as your registration is confirmed—think of it as part of your preparation, alongside setting your spiritual intentions.

Generali plans cover trip cancellation (100% of trip cost), trip interruption, travel delays, missed connections, overseas medical and dental emergencies, emergency transportation, lost or delayed baggage, accidental death and dismemberment, and rental car damage. Coverage limits vary by plan tier—see the comparison table above for full details.

Yes. Generali offers a free-look period—you can receive a full refund of your plan cost if you cancel within 10 days of purchase, provided you have not filed a claim or departed on your trip. Residents of Indiana have a 30-day free-look period.

Pre-existing conditions can be covered when the Premium plan is purchased prior to or within 24 hours of your final trip payment, provided other eligibility requirements are met. See the Description of Coverage for complete details.

Yes—the Premium plan includes an optional “Cancel for Any Reason” benefit covering 60% of the penalty amount. This benefit is not available to residents of New York. The Preferred and Standard plans do not include this option.

Protect Your Pilgrimage Investment

Thoughtful preparation—both spiritual and practical—is the foundation of a fruitful pilgrimage. Securing your travel insurance is one of the simplest steps you can take to ensure nothing distracts you from the encounters that lie ahead.
