Medjugorje Pilgrimage Chicago ·  May 2027

Five days in Medjugorje, then four days at sea, with Fr. Dan Reehil and your guide Ann Vucic.
A New Pilgrimage Unlike Any Before
Join Fr. Dan Reehil and your guide Ann Vucic — born just two miles from Medjugorje and an early witness to the apparitions — for a pilgrimage unlike any we have offered before. After an overnight flight, we begin with five days of immersion in Medjugorje, the village of Our Lady’s apparitions, where daily Mass, Adoration, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation have transformed countless hearts for over four decades. Then carry those graces home across the quiet waters of the Adriatic on a four-night retreat at sea aboard a privately chartered ship — daily Mass and reflections, contemplative silence, and the saints of Dalmatia as our companions.
Proposed Itinerary

Day 1: Travel. Depart the United States on an overnight flight to Croatia.

Days 2–6: Immersion in Medjugorje. Climb Apparition Hill where the visionaries first encountered the Blessed Mother. Pray the Stations of the Cross ascending Cross Mountain. Join pilgrims from around the world for daily Mass, Adoration, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation in what is often called “the confessional of the world.”

Days 7–11: A Retreat at Sea. Board a privately chartered ship sailing amongst the Adriatic islands of Brač, Hvar, Vis, and Korčula. Participate in daily Mass aboard the ship and at island cathedrals with reflections from Fr. Reehil. Immerse yourself in contemplative silence. Take the saints of the Adriatic as your companions on the journey home.

Day 12: Return Home. Disembark in Split. Bring the saints of the Adriatic with you as your companions on the journey home.

The graces received at Our Lady’s feet, then carried home across the quiet waters of the Adriatic — return changed, not just traveled.

Anticipated Weather · May

Adriatic Sea · Days at Sea 65–78°F Warm & Sunny · May The Adriatic in May is calm, clear, and deeply blue — one of the finest stretches of water in the world at one of its finest times of year. Days at sea after Medjugorje offer something the pilgrimage itself sometimes does not: stillness without agenda, open horizon, and the unhurried space to begin absorbing what the week on land quietly deposited.
Medjugorje / Široki Brijeg / Mostar 62–76°F Warm & Mostly Sunny · May May is Medjugorje at its most welcoming — the valley green and fully alive, mornings clear and cool, afternoons warm enough to make the walk between St. James and the surrounding shrines a genuine pleasure. The day trips to Široki Brijeg and Mostar pass through some of Herzegovina's most beautiful spring countryside, unhurried and open to whatever the pilgrim brings to it.
Apparition Hill & Cross Mountain 54–66°F Cool & Variable · May The hilltops are noticeably cooler than the village and more exposed to the spring weather that moves through the Herzegovinian highlands without much notice. May mornings on the ascent can be brisk and beautiful; afternoons occasionally bring cloud and a passing shower. Sturdy shoes and a light layer make the climb manageable — what the pilgrim tends to find at the summit is worth the preparation.

May in this region is warm and largely sunny, though the Herzegovinian hilltops can be cool and unpredictable — pack a light waterproof jacket and sturdy closed-toe shoes for the climbs. Evenings in Medjugorje are cool; evenings on the Adriatic are mild. Modest attire is required at all sacred sites throughout (shoulders and knees covered). A light layer and sunscreen are both useful on deck.

What Pilgrims Are Saying

I have been challenged to live out the Messages of Medj by living them in my own life and sharing them with others.

I was SO influenced by sharing the time with the Universal Church. In Our Lady's message she called us to (paraphrasing) to be carriers of Peace and Joy . So, for me I will try to Evangelize at every opportunity. I truly know that Our Lady loves me as does her Son. My heart is full and overflowing.
