Mexico Pilgrimage
This 8-day pilgrimage to Mexico begins and ends at the feet of Our Lady of Guadalupe. In between, it goes out from Tepeyac Hill into the shrines and colonial churches of Tlaxcala and Puebla, where Heaven has repeatedly broken into ordinary lives. Pilgrims pray at the Basilica where Juan Diego’s tilma still bears her image, and they stand where he was baptized and where Our Lady healed his uncle at Tulpetlac. They draw from the healing well of Saint Michael at San Miguel del Milagro, kneel before the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Ocotlán, and venerate the incorrupt body of Blessed Sebastian of Aparicio, patron of travelers, in Puebla. Back in Mexico City, they pray at the relics of Blessed Miguel Pro, then climb once more to the hilltop chapel where the roses bloomed in winter, and celebrate Mass there. Like Juan Diego coming down Tepeyac with his tilma full of roses, pilgrims leave carrying seeds of grace rather than souvenirs—and return home by a different way, sent out as he was to tell what they have seen.
Today marks the beginning of our pilgrimage as we depart on our flight to Mexico City. Upon arrival at the airport in Mexico City we will be met by our local guide, who will be with us for the duration of our pilgrimage. Time permitting, we enjoy a brief overview city tour before checking into our centrally located hotel for dinner and overnight. (D) Overnight Mexico City
After breakfast, we will drive to the Plaza of the Three Cultures to see the ancient ruins and the site where St. Juan Diego was baptized. Continue to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the holiest place in the Western Hemisphere, for an introductory guided tour of the Basilica and the surrounding grounds, including the old Basilica, Tepeyac Hill Indian Church, the Church of the Well, and the Monument of the Offerings. Pending confirmation, Mass will be celebrated at one of the side altars of the Basilica. Afterwards, we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D) Overnight Mexico City
Today we journey to Tulpetlac, the site of the 5th apparition to Saint Juan Diego’s uncle, Juan Bernardino. Then proceed to the former Augustinian convent in Acolman. Built in the 16th century, it is known for its unique murals – some of the earliest in the region. Continue to Teotihuacan to visit the Mayan Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. Return to Mexico City. (B, D) Overnight Mexico City
We check out of our hotel this morning and leave Mexico City for a couple of days. First, travel to the Shrine of San Miguel del Milagro, the site of miraculous apparitions of St. Michael to Diego Lazaro in 1631. We will pray the St. Michael the Archangel prayer and visit the well of healing waters. We will then proceed to the Shrine and Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ocotlan. Here Our Lady appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541 and left her miraculous statue in a burnt tree. Our next stop will be in Puebla where we will pray at the Santo Domingo Church and visit the Capilla del Rosario. We then heck into our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D) Overnight Puebla
Drive to Cholula, known for its 365 churches – one for every day of the year! Here we visit the Iglesia de Santa Maria Tonantzintla and the Iglesia de Los Remedios (Our Lady of the Remedies), built on the famous pyramid of Cholula. Return to Puebla, where we venerate the incorrupt body of Blessed Sebastian of Aparicio, the “Angel of Mexico” and a patron of travelers. We will also visit the smaller Parroquia de la Santa Cruz (Church of the Holy Cross) before returning to our hotel in Puebla for the evening. (B, D) Overnight Puebla
Depart Puebla this morning and return to Mexico City. Upon arrival, we proceed to the Metropolitan Cathedral. Afterwards, we will walk around the Zocalo, the Palacio Nacional, and the Templo Mayor (outside visit). Then continue to some of the other interesting sights of Mexico City including the House of Tiles and Reforma Avenue. We will also visit Bl. Miguel Pro’s relics in the Church of the Holy Family and take a leisurely walk in Chapultepec Park and view the Don Quixote Fountain. (B, D) Overnight Mexico City
After breakfast this morning we will return to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe for a second visit. After celebrating Mass at the Church on the top of Tepeyac Hill where St. Juan Diego collected the roses, we will have time for prayer, private devotions, and shopping for religious articles. In the afternoon we will visit Mexico City’s Museum of Mezcal and Tequila for a unique cultural experience. This evening, we will enjoy a festive farewell dinner at a local restaurant. (B, D) Overnight Mexico City
After breakfast we will transfer to the airport to catch our return flight home, bringing with us all the blessings and graces of this pilgrimage.

A special appreciation to Krista who helped this little old lady, who was traveling solo & inexperienced in international travel, prepare well for the Pilgrimage. Despite my anxiety, all connections were made, I managed to pack well, made some super friends & had a memorable experience. Tekton's pre-pilgrimage support (important information, coaching, & prayers) is superior to companies I have used in the past. I'm glad I did not let my apprehension about traveling on my own, stop me from experiencing the blessings of this journey."

Anticipated Weather · January
Dress in layers: January days are sunny and mild, but mornings and evenings at this altitude get cold, especially in the Tlaxcala highlands. Bring sunscreen, a hat and a water bottle for the strong high-altitude sun, plus sturdy walking shoes for the pyramid climbs at Teotihuacan and Cholula and for Tepeyac Hill. Modest attire is required at all sacred sites (shoulders and knees covered).
