Pilgrimage Itinerary
Our pilgrimage begins as we depart on our overnight flight to Lisbon. Meals and refreshments will be served aloft.
Upon arrival in Lisbon, we will be met by our tour manager who will remain with us for the duration of our pilgrimage. Depending upon our flight arrival time, we will enjoy a driving tour of Lisbon and stop somewhere for lunch. We then journey north to Fatima, our home for the next three nights. The balance of the day will be free to begin exploring the shrine and surrounding areas, marveling at how the Blessed Mother continues to draw pilgrims to her Son over a hundred years after the apparitions here. (D) – Overnight Fatima
A full day is ours in Fatima, where in 1917 three young shepherd children were graced with apparitions of the Virgin Mary. The message of Fatima has inspired generations of Catholics to pray the rosary daily for peace and reparation. Explore the tiny village where the three children lived and continue to Valinhos where Our Lady appeared to the children after they were unjustly imprisoned. It is here she encouraged them and told them they must still come every 13th of the month to see her. After Mass at the Chapel of the Apparitions, visit the Basilica to venerate the site of their graves. This evening, we participate in the candlelight rosary procession in the heart of the shrine. (B, D) – Overnight Fatima
Today we will take an excursion outside of Fatima. Our first stop will be at Alcobaca to visit the 12th century Monastery of Alcobaca, the largest church in Portugal and one of the most prestigious monasteries in medieval Europe. Continue to the Church of the Holy Miracle in Santarem, famous for its venerated relic, “The Bleeding Host.” In the 13th century, a woman stole the host to take to a fortune-teller, but as she was taking it out of church the host began to bleed profusely. Afraid, she put it in a trunk at her home only to be awakened in the middle of the night to a bright light coming from the trunk. Taking the host back to the priest, he put it in a wax pyx. Another miracle happened the next morning when they found that the wax had turned into its own crystal pyx, where it can be venerated to this day. After time for prayer here, return to Fatima, where we can participate once more in the candlelight rosary procession. (B, D) – Overnight Fatima
This morning, we depart Fatima for Lisbon to catch our morning flight to Paris. Upon arrival, we will be met at the airport by our motorcoach driver and proceed to Lisieux, the home of St. Therese the “Little Flower of Jesus” one of the most beloved modern saints, whose message of “the little way” inspires millions. Check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D) – Overnight Lisieux
Spend the day in Lisieux visiting many sites and shrines related to the St. Therese, including the home where she lived as a child, the Carmelite Convent where she was a nun, the Basilica of St. Therese, and the Cathedral of St. Peter. This afternoon we journey back to Paris, our home for the next three nights. Check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D) – Overnight Paris
Our first pilgrim stop today will be to the Shrine of Saint Vincent de Paul where the saint’s incorruptible body is on display in a reliquary. From there we travel a short distance to the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal at Rue de Bac where Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Laboure in 1830 and where this beloved saint is buried. This afternoon, we journey to the top of Montmartre to visit the Basilica du Sacre Coeur. Afterwards, we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D) – Overnight Paris
Today we begin at Notre Dame Cathedral, in the spiritual heart of Paris. Just a few blocks away on the same little island in the Seine is Sainte-Chapelle, built in 1248 to house the Crown of Thorns. It now houses one of the world’s most captivating array of stained-glass windows. We then view some of the most famous secular icons in Paris with outside visits to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc du Triomphe. After some free time, we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, followed by a special nighttime cruise on the Seine River, passing under 25 bridges and marveling at the illuminated monuments of Paris. (B, D) – Overnight Paris
After breakfast, we will board the high-speed train to Lourdes, one of the great pilgrimage shrines in the world. On the train, enjoying the passing countryside, or catching up on sleep. It was in Lourdes, where Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette in 1858 proclaiming herself the “Immaculate Conception”. This peaceful village is also known for its healing waters which each pilgrim can experience in a prayer/blessing. This evening, join hundreds of other pilgrims in the Blessed Sacrament Procession and Candlelight Procession that has endured since 1863. Lourdes will be our home for the next two nights. (B, D) – Overnight Lourdes
Bask in the grace of Lourdes all day as we have Mass at the Grotto of Massabielle, where Our Lady first appeared to St. Bernadette and had her dig for the spring that is now known across the world for its many miracles of healing. We also visit the humble home where St. Bernadette lived during the apparitions. Tonight, we join again the candlelight procession with thousands of other pilgrims in prayer and song. (B, D) – Overnight Lourdes
Enjoy a full day on your own in the peaceful setting of Lourdes. Visit a place we saw yesterday, explore somewhere new, pray the Stations of the Cross, or just sit in awe and wonder and contemplate the events that happened here and the miracles that still occur. Enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel together before we participate one final time in the evening pilgrim activities. (B, D) – Overnight Lourdes
Today marks the end of a marvelous experience as we transfer to the airport for the return trip home, filled with memories and graces of this pilgrimage that will last a lifetime. (B)
